Painter Rob Surette
By Michael Winn
Today a painter named Rob Surette came to the Marshal Simonds Middle School in Burlington. He painted Mother Theresa, Abe Lincoln, Albert Einstein, the Statue of Liberty, Martin Luther King Jr., and Mozart. He was different than any painter I have ever seen because of how fast he painted and it seemed like he was just throwing the paint at the board.
When I saw the Statue of Liberty I thought it was supposed to be a painting of George Washington with the United States in the background. He was amazing and only took three minutes to paint each painting. My favorite painting was of Abe Lincoln because at the end he threw the paint at the black spots which made a red white and blue background. He told us to never stop believing in ourselves and to ignore anyone that tells you that you can’t do something.
His Grandfather’s told him that they would always support him and that they knew he was going to be an artist the first time they saw him do a painting of his house when he was in school. I would highly recommend seeing Rob Surette if you ever get the chance.
